Quar­ter­back prospect Robert Grif­fin III isn’t a mem­ber of the Wash­ing­ton Red­skins yet, but the signal-caller is already being embraced by fans of his likely future team.

Grif­fin signed auto­graphs and posed for pic­tures on Sat­ur­day at the Dulles Expo Cen­ter in Chan­tilly, Va., accord­ing to the Fred­er­icks­burg Free Lance-Star.

The event marked Griffin’s first pub­lic appear­ance in the Wash­ing­ton, D.C., area since the Red­skins traded for the No. 2 over­all pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. They are expected to use the pick on the Heis­man Tro­phy winner.

Coach Mike Shana­han said Wednes­day he would be happy with either Grif­fin or Stan­ford quar­ter­back Andrew Luck as the team’s draft pick.

Not every­one seems to wel­come the idea of Grif­fin join­ing Wash­ing­ton; for­mer Red­skins quar­ter­back Dono­van McN­abb said Fri­day he thought Grif­fin was a bad fit for the team’s offense.
