PewterReport.com reports that the Bucs have dan­gled trou­bled cor­ner­back Aqib Talib for a pos­si­ble trade. Thus far, there have been no tak­ers. (And we don’t expect any to emerge.)

The Buc­ca­neers have been extremely patient with Talib through his var­i­ous legal prob­lems. He’s set to go on trial for aggra­vated assault with a hand­gun on June 25. Talib has also seen his last two years cut short by injury.

In short, there’s no chance the Bucs will find a taker for Talib with his trial up in the air. He’s a very tal­ented player, but his play hasn’t been very con­sis­tent as a pro. He’s enter­ing the final year of his con­tract, and this news makes us won­der if the Bucs will sim­ply cut bait if they take a cor­ner­back high in the draft.

The Buc­ca­neers recently released safety Tanard Jack­son, who had long-running sub­stance abuse issues. Gen­eral man­ager Mark Dominik remains in place, but the team’s sud­den desire to get rid of the young play­ers with legal issues sug­gests Schi­ano is run­ning the show.
