Hamlin Leads NASCAR Sprint Cup Points Race

Denny Ham­lin replaced for­mer points leader Kevin Har­vick to claim the top posi­tion head­ing into The Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup crown. His season-best sixth win at Rich­mond Inter­na­tional Race­way last week­end uplifted him to the top in the points race.

Reg­is­ter­ing the most wins in the series, Ham­lin jumped from tenth spot to first with 5,060 points, while Jim­mie John­son (5,050), four-time defend­ing cham­pion, is lag­ging behind with just 10 points.

Whereas, Har­vick (5,030) dropped from first to third spot, and broth­ers Kyle (5,030) and Kurt Busch (5,020) are round­ing up the top-five.

Tony Stew­art (5,020), Greg Bif­fle (5,010), Jeff Gor­don (5,010), Carl Edwards (5,000), Jeff Bur­ton (5,000), Matt Kenseth (5,000) and Clint Bowyer (5,000) are among the top-12 of The Chase contenders.

Ryan New­man (3,079), Jamie McMur­ray (3,050), Mark Mar­tin (3,022), Juan Mon­toya (3,017), David Reuti­mann (2,986), Kasey Kahne (2,932), Dale Earn­hardt Jr. (2,908) and Mar­tin Truex (2,884) have occu­pied posi­tions 13 to 20, likewise.

As far as the bet­ting per­spec­tive is con­cerned, Lines­Maker has Jim­mie John­son as the top favorite with +250 odds to win the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup, fol­lowed by Kevin Har­vick (+400)  and Denny Ham­lin (+450). His points lead is def­i­nitely going to affect his NASCAR bet­ting odds.
