There are still seven races remaining in the 2011 Chase for the Cup but we have a great points battle brewing right now. Two drivers are tied for the lead, two more are just nine points behind the leaders and the top nine drivers are all within nineteen points.
On the opposite end of the points I’m ready to add Ryan Newman (-41 points) and Dale Earnhardt Jr. (-34 points) to the list of Chase drivers who haveeffectively eliminated themselves from competition. They join previous 2011 Chase flameout Denny Hamlin (-68 points) as drivers with no realistic shot at the 2011 Cup.
Nine drivers are left. Will Kansas help clarify the picture or tighten the Chase even more? This is a great battle.
