The Exacta bet, also known as per­fecta, is a widely pop­u­lar option used by the gam­blers to bet on horse rac­ing tracks. In this bet, you can place your wager on the first and sec­ond runner-up of a race. Usu­ally, three forms of exacta bets are used in horse bet­ting, namely, the straight exacta, the exacta wheel, and the exacta box.

In straight exacta, you sim­ply have to select two horses to fin­ish the race at first and sec­ond place, respec­tively. The bet is con­sid­ered a los­ing one, if the picked horses fail to fin­ish the race in the spec­i­fied order. On the other hand, when using exacta box bet you have the option to cover both com­bi­na­tions, i.e. you can pick two horses to fin­ish first and sec­ond, or vice versa. Gen­er­ally, you have to wager two dol­lars for an exacta with two horses, but if you want to pick more horses increase your bet­ting amount accord­ingly. When bet­ting with an exacta wheel, you have to select one horse that is likely to win the race and two or more horses that you think will be the first runner-up. The pay­out of the exacta bet depends on the horses that you select.
