Bourque totaled his goal count to 13 this sea­son, which is one more than his entire total last sea­son. Allow­ing the first and last goals of the game, Miikka Kipru­soff was tagged with the win for 17 saves. This was Calgary’s sec­ond vic­tory in a row.

Giguere, who was later replaced by Jonas Gus­tavs­son, gave up four goals on 24 shots. With this loss, Toronto failed to claim their first three-game win­ning streak after open­ing the NHL season.
