Edmonton Downs NHL Betting Favorite Montreal
The Edmonton Oiler toppled over the Montreal Canadiens 4–1 Thursday, courtesy of Jordan Eberle who scored three goals in third with a go-ahead score.
Attracting nearly 70% of the NHL betting action, the Montreal Canadiens were the clear favorites against Edmonton among LinesMaker bettors. With the NHL lines at –130, Montreal failed to delight the majority of bettors as they lost to the Oilers (+120).
Ales Hemsky scored the first of his two goals in the opening period, but Montreal tied it in the second on a score from Jeff Halpern.
Eberle scored on a wrist shot 3:58 into the final stanza to lead the Oilers, who won in a row for the first time after they ended their four-game winning streak on December 4. Ryan Jones netted another third period goal just 15 seconds later for Edmonton.
Hemsky found an empty net in the last 54 seconds to seal the win. Nikolai Khabibulin prevented 36-of-37 shots for Edmonton.
Carey Price gave up three goals on 27 shots for the Canadiens, who faced setback in five out of six games played.
