Bran­don Sut­ter scored twice in the third to rally the Car­olina Hur­ri­canes over the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 6–4 win on Monday.

Attract­ing around 75% of the NHL bet­ting action, the Car­olina Hur­ri­canes were the favorites to win against Toronto among Lines­Maker bet­tors. Listed at –150 on NHL lines, Car­olina lived up to the expec­ta­tions of the major­ity of bet­tors by ral­ly­ing over the Maple Leafs (+138).

Lead­ing 2–1 in the final frame, Car­olina won their third out of seven games played so far. Both the teams net­ted seven goals within the last 20 minutes.

With just 1:49 into the third, Sut­ter net­ted a goal to help Car­olina take a 3–1 lead. Tim Brent scored on a pair of goals to cut the Maple Leafs’ deficit. How­ever, Sutter’s sec­ond tally tied the match 3–3.

Even­tu­ally, Car­olina had a 4–3 lead as Jeff Skin­ner scored on a game-winning power play goal 11 min­utes into the frame.  Joe Corvo, Jamie McBain and Erik Cole also tal­lied for the Hur­ri­canes. Cam Ward blocked 26-of-30 shots in the win.

Brent had an assist, while Mike Brown scored on a goal with a helper for the Maple Leafs. Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 22 saves for Toronto, which has lost five out of six games so far.
