Buffalo Overpowers NHL Betting Favorite Boston
The Buffalo Sabres defeated the Boston Bruins 4–2 on Thursday, courtesy of Thomas Vanek and Jason Pominville who netted goals in third-period to break the tie.
Attracting around 80% of the NHL betting action, the Boston Bruins were the clear favorites against Buffalo among LinesMaker bettors. With the NHL lines at –164, Boston failed to delight the majority of bettors as they lost to the underdog Bruins (+151).
Ryan Miller made 38 saves for the Sabres, who have won five out of seven games so far. Buffalo managed to cut a one-goal deficit twice in the first two stanzas. Vanek had a wrist shot with 5:13 into the third to elude Tuukka Rask and lead the Sabres.
Buffalo had a two-goal advantage in the last 3:20 minutes, as Pominville chipped in with Vanek’s shot. Cody McCormick and Nathan Gerbe also tallied for Buffalo, which reached within six points for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
Rask allowed four goals on 33 shots for Boston, which is leading by three points over Montreal in the Northeast Division.
