Open Championship Confirmed for St. Andrews in 2015
The game’s oldest major championship will return home in 2015.
As has been expected for some time, the R&A announced St. Andrews will host the Open Championship in four years’ time. It will be host for the 29th time.
“We are delighted to announce that The Open will be returning to St Andrews and the historic Old Course in 2015,” said R&A chief Peter Dawson. “St. Andrews has proved time and again that it is perfectly equipped to host The Open and I am certain we will yet again see a worthy winner lift the Claret Jug.”
The Old Course has been host to the links-style major every five years since 1990. Louis Oosthuizen won the Open Championship at St. Andrews in 2010, winning by seven shots. Tiger Woods won the two prior Opens held there in 2000 and ’05.
