Luke Donald won the voting by his fellow players to be named PGA Tour Player of the Year for 2011, the tour announced on Monday. And Keegan Bradley is the winner of the Rookie of the Year Award. Neither is a surprise.
Donald had one of the most consistent years by anyone not named Tiger Woods or Vijay Singh since the heyday of Greg Norman. Although Donald won “only” two PGA Tour events, nobody else won more. He finished second in two other USPGA tournaments, and was in the Top 10 in 14 of 19 starts.
Over the past 15 PGA Tour seasons, only Tiger Woods has posted a better single-season Top 10 percentage than Donald did this year.
And Donald closed out the year in style, winning the final event of the season to clinch the PGA Tour money title. On top of that, Donald also won the scoring title. All around, it was a superb season by Donald.
Bradley also won twice in 2011 on the PGA Tour, and Bradley’s victory total included a major, the PGA Championship.
