Ferrari 1–2 Victory at Formula One Season Opener

Fer­rari cel­e­brated a 1 — 2 fin­ish at the Bahrain Grand Prix on Sun­day in Sakhir. The win­ner was two-time F1 cham­pion Fer­nando Alonso who fin­ished ahead of his Fer­rari team­mate Felipe Massa.

Fer­rari gave up on For­mula One last sea­son and it seems like their break has paid off, but it’s a long sea­son so it will be inter­est­ing to see how Fer­rari pro­gresses. The vic­tory was a great start to the sea­son for both dri­vers. Fer­nando Alonso of Spain was signed to Fer­rari after he had two tough and frus­trat­ing years with Renault and team­mate Felipe Massa nearly lost his life last year at the Hun­gar­ian GP.

Red Bull could be a good con­tender this year with their first approved F1 car but their dri­ver Sebas­t­ian Vet­tel looked to be home free until the 34^th lap until a faulty spark plug caused his engine mal­func­tioned; he was then passed by Massa. Vet­tel fin­ished fourth and Michael Schu­macher came in sixth ahead of cur­rent F1 Champ Jen­son But­ton. Alonso could be chas­ing Schumacher’s record and on his way to earn three world championships.
