Bernie: If There Is Peace We’ll Go to Bahrain
Bernie Ecclestone is hopeful that the World Motorsport Council will on Friday decide that Bahrain GP should go ahead.
The race, which was originally scheduled for February 21, was postponed due to civil unrest in the Arab Kingdom. Despite the uncertainty surrounding the situation in the region, Ecclestone believes that if the safety of all those involved can be assured than the race should be rescheduled for later in the year.
“If there’s peace there and they’re happy, we’re happy to compromise and make things happen for them,” he told CNN.
“I think the teams are happy. If it’s safe and everything is good then I think the teams will be happy to support it,” he added.
Should the WMC give the grand prix the green light, it has been proposed that the event take place on October 30 which is currently slated as the date for the Indian GP, with the inaugural event on the sub-continent pushed back to December 11.
