Purdue down another receiver for bowl game
Posted by John Taylor on December 25, 2011, 11:08 AM EST
Earlier in the week it was confirmed that third-leading receiver O.J. Ross had been suspended for Purdue’s bowl game Dec. 27.
Now, one of Ross’ receiving mates won’t be available as well.
Head coach Danny Hope, the recipient of a surprise contract extension Saturday, announced that Waynelle Gravesande will not be available for the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl versus Western Michigan because he fell short academically.
Gravesande, a senior no less, is fifth on the Boilermakers with 18 receptions on the season. He’s also the team’s main punt returner, although he’s averaged just 5.9 yards on 22 returns.

I thought Purdue was suppose to be one of the elite colleges in the big 10.
@woebegong, Not a Purdue fan, but think of the comment you just posted. Give me a school in D-1 that graduates 100% of it’s football players? I bet there isn’t one.
There is probably not one, I just thought Purdue and it’s high standards wouldn’t have had that problem. Maybe it is the majors they have to try and get a degree in. Georgia Tech. fans will tell you how hard it is to get in their school, and it is an engineering school, but not one of their football player graduated and is on schedule to graduate with a degree in any kind of engineering discipline. I hate to see any player have trouble with his academics though, because they already have too much on their plates to handle as it is. I think a lot of times the schools, could help them out more but they are only interested on how well they do on the football field..
Purdue does a lot of bottom feeding in its recruiting. At Purdue if it’s not trouble with the grades it is trouble with the law.
The Boilers should let the Asian students play because they are the ones with the stellar grades.
