Nebraska Going Big for Conference Debut
Nebraska is known for having some of the best fans in college football. When the Huskers travel to Wisconsin for their first Big Ten road game tomorrow, their fan base is expected to be out in full force.
Even if it means having to watch the game from a local bar.
Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez, who played at Nebraska, said he expects as many as 30,000 Big Red faithful to show up, almost all of which probably won’t even get inside Camp Randall Stadium to see the game. Big Ten rules allot visiting teams 3,000 tickets for road games; Nebraska reportedly requested around 20,000.
No matter who gets in, that’s quite a debut.
I remember a similar scene during last year’s Big 12 Championship Game between the Huskers and Oklahoma. Nebraska fans were loud, proud and in mass quantities.
It should be a great nightcap to the Big Ten’s first weekend of conference play.
