Cotton Bowl Odds
Cotton Bowl Odds a Spread Record
In a classic rematch of the 1964 Orange Bowl, the Cotton Bowl odds in Dallas, Texas have pitted two of the most nationally acclaimed teams in college sports with Nebraska and Auburn in a test of two powerful defensive teams. The first Cotton Bowl odds activity showed Auburn as a three point favorite only to move to 1.5, making the Tigers a pretty neat bet. Oddsmakers and bettors found this line arrangement a bit peculiar, given the fact about 70 percent of all bets were placed on Auburn. One could only conclude that there was a lack of research done with bandwagon fans that jumped on Nebraska.
During the regular season, Nebraska enjoyed success – posting a 9–4 record after a start in which they beat two poor teams to kick the year off. With a false sense of confidence, the team went into USC stadium and got its socks blown off with a 28–10 loss. This forced Nebraska to come out strong winning the next four in the row and almost beating Texas before coming down to Earth in a loss to Oklahoma State. After three more wins, Nebraska dismantled another before meeting Oklahoma in the Big 12 championship. Although the Cotton Bowl odds favored a Nebraska team that was improving, many fans felt they had a ways to go after posting a 7–4-1 against the spread record.
With the Cotton Bowl odds, Auburn did not share the same public scrutiny as Nebraska did in its performance. Many enthusiasts thought Auburn was the best team in the country hands down. Although the team’s play was unstoppable at times, they did lose to Arkansas and Georgia. The “against the spread” numbers for Auburn wasn’t so favorable either, posting a 5–6 record. Auburn’s biggest problem heading into Cotton Bowl odds time was its offense situation, holding a standard running back and a sub par quarterback in Brandon Cox. He had a penchant for ruining the big games, as evident by his 2006 poor performance against Georgia with four interceptions. All in all, the Cotton Bowl odds pitted two fine (but flawed, at times) teams against each other in this exciting Cotton Bowl odds ting championship game.
