Florida F Larson Won’t Serve Jail Time

GAINESVILLE, Fla. —Florida for­ward Cody Lar­son won’t serve jail time for his pro­ba­tion violation.

Judge John Schlim­gen in Sioux Falls, S.D., gave Lar­son two addi­tional years of pro­ba­tion Fri­day and rein­stated his 120-day sus­pended sen­tence. Lar­son also must talk to four high school bas­ket­ball teams in Sioux Falls about his pos­i­tive and neg­a­tive expe­ri­ences as a col­lege athlete.

Lar­son reached a plea deal last month on a mis­de­meanor tres­pass charge stem­ming from an inci­dent in April when he was charged with try­ing to break into a car in St. Augus­tine. In 2010, he received a sus­pended sen­tence and pro­ba­tion in South Dakota on a mis­de­meanor drug charge for allegedly shar­ing pre­scrip­tion med­ica­tion with a high school teammate.

Florida coach Billy Dono­van sus­pended Lar­son fol­low­ing his arrest in April.
