In the sec­ond round of the N.I.T. Sea­son Tip-Off in Storrs, home team Con­necti­cut secured a 76 – 67 vic­tory over Hof­s­tra on Tues­day. Jerome Dyson scored 23 points, includ­ing 9 straight points for UConn in the final 1.39. UConn will advance to the semi­fi­nals next week at MSG. Despite their win, pub­lic bet­ting shows no favor for Con­necti­cut with 70% of the bet­ting vol­ume favor­ing Notre Dame in their game this Sat­ur­day, 21st November.

Ash­ton Gibbs helped Pitts­burgh open a 22-point lead when he hit five 3-pointers in the first half. Suf­fer­ing from the loss of their coach and many of their play­ers in a trou­ble filled off-season, Binghamton’s play was far from per­fect. Even though man­ager, Jamie Dixon, believes they could do much bet­ter, Pitts­burgh took an easy 71 – 46 vic­tory against Bing­ham­ton. Michi­gan St. had a 75 – 71 win against Gongaza when Dur­rell Sum­mers hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 3:02 left, made two at the line with 5.7 sec­onds to go and fin­ished with 21 points to help Michi­gan State beat Gon­zaga at home. North Texas edged out Texas-Arlington 101–99 in dou­ble over­time on Wednes­day night. North Texas had some great play when Josh White scored a career-high 35 points. Mar­quez Haynes led Arling­ton with 29 points and Bran­don Long added 28. Shan­non Shorter hit a free throw with 12 sec­onds remain­ing for the final point. After a Haynes layup pulled Arling­ton to within 100–99, a jumper by Long rat­tled out in the clos­ing sec­onds. The pub­lic bet­ting action shows North Texas favored by just 28% of the net­ting vol­ume against Army on Novem­ber 21st.

Regi­nald Delk scored 20 points off the bench to help Louisville to a 96 — 66 vic­tory over Arkansas in the Hall of Fame Show­case in St. Louis. In the sec­ond game of the show­case top-ranked Kansas strug­gled to fight off an upset bid by Mem­phis. Kansas took the vic­tory with in a slim 57–55 edge in scor­ing. Arkansas meets Mis­sis­sippi St on Saturday.
