The Oakland Athletics, after spending the past several weeks trading their top players, finally are keeping one.
The team has reached agreement with free-agent center fielder Coco Crisp, according to major-league sources.
The deal, which is pending a physical, will be for two years and $ 14 million according to ESPN.com.
The A’s currently have only four outfielders on their 40-man roster – Josh Reddick, Collin Cowgill, Michael Taylor and Jermaine Mitchell. Reddick was acquired in the Andrew Bailey trade, Cowgill in the Trevor Cahill trade.
Crisp, 32, will return as the starter in center after batting .264/.314/.379 last season, with eight home runs, 54 RBI and 49 stolen bases in 58 attempts.
The Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals were among the other teams to show interest in Crisp this offseason, sources said.
