Sources: A’s, Crisp Agree to $14M Deal

The Oak­land Ath­let­ics, after spend­ing the past sev­eral weeks trad­ing their top play­ers, finally are keep­ing one.

The team has reached agree­ment with free-agent cen­ter fielder Coco Crisp, accord­ing to major-league sources.

The deal, which is pend­ing a phys­i­cal, will be for two years and $ 14 mil­lion accord­ing to ESPN.com.

The A’s cur­rently have only four out­field­ers on their 40-man ros­ter – Josh Red­dick, Collin Cowgill, Michael Tay­lor and Jer­maine Mitchell. Red­dick was acquired in the Andrew Bai­ley trade, Cowgill in the Trevor Cahill trade.

Crisp, 32, will return as the starter in cen­ter after bat­ting .264/.314/.379 last sea­son, with eight home runs, 54 RBI and 49 stolen bases in 58 attempts.

The Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Car­di­nals were among the other teams to show inter­est in Crisp this off­sea­son, sources said.
