Playing Omaha in Online Poker Room

After the overwhelming craze of Texas Holdem now many poker players are moving to Omaha. Given that, most of the players have concentrated on Holdem alone all these years, the average skill level of the players of this game is much more than what is considered as average in the poker room. For that reason, getting an edge in this game is much harder than you can imagine and gives little score to progress in terms of skill and money both. Therefore, many players have started honing their skills of Texas Holdem to play Omaha in online poker room.  In case...

Rashad Evans Will Headline UFC on Fox 2 in Chicago

The UFC’s begun to roll out the schedule for its second show on Fox. The promotion hit a home run including Rashad Evans on the card against Phil Davis. Evans is a dynamite pitchman and an action fighter. ESPN.com reported this morning that the fight was made for the United Center. Davis and Evans were slated to fight back in August at UFC 133. The former Penn State wrestler is unbeaten in the UFC, while Evans, a former UFC 205-pound champ, has won three straight since a rough loss against Lyoto Machida. Evans probably needs another impressive win to lock up the next...

Martz Won’t Discuss Reports He’s Interested in Two College Jobs

Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Mike Martz declined comment Wednesday on reports that he’s interested in the vacant head coaching jobs at Arizona State and UCLA. “You know, anything about those kinds of things, I would never discuss. I have a job, and this job is the only one I can discuss. It would be very inappropriate for me to talk about anything like that,” said Martz, according to the Chicago Tribune. Martz is in the final year of his contract with the Bears. He turned down a one-year extension during the offseason that would have paid...

Penn St. Hopes to Have New Coach by Bowl

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Penn State could have a replacement for fired football coach Joe Paterno by the end of the year. School president Rod Erickson said Wednesday the school hopes to have a new coach in place by the Nittany Lions’ bowl game. No. 23 Penn State (9–3) should learn its postseason destination by this weekend. Paterno was fired Nov. 9 after 46 seasons in the aftermath of child sex abuse charges against former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky. Longtime defensive coordinator Tom Bradley is running the team on an interim basis. Erickson...

Fired on Monday, Boudreau Gets Right Back to Work

Bruce Boudreau’s “vacation” didn’t last long — and just as he did four years ago, he’ll try to pump some life into a struggling team. When Boudreau first arrived in Washington in November 2007, he was best known for his effusive personality and a small role in the hockey classic “Slap Shot.” Just over four years later, he left Washington as one of the most successful coaches in League history — but one who seemingly had lost the ability to motivate his players. That didn’t deter the Anaheim Ducks, who fired Randy Carlyle and hired Boudreau...

Thad Levine Declines Interview for Astros’ GM Opening

Thad Levine declines interview for Astros’ GM opening Drew Silva Nov 30, 2011, 10:18 PM EST 4 Comments The Astros’ hunt for a new general manager began Monday when freshly-approved owner Jim Crane fired Ed Wade. It’s early, but so far the hunt has not been fruitful. In fact, it’s even been a little embarrassing. Crane and Co. have reached out to Rays executive vice president Andrew Friedman, but most insiders believe that to be a longshot. The ‘Stros have also made contact with Rangers assistant GM Thad Levine, but that’s not going to happen...

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Brandon Marshall was briefly handcuffed and detained while deputies investigated a misunderstanding about a $ 142 cab fare, according to a report released by the Broward Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday. Marshall eventually paid the fare and was released without being charged with any crime. He apologized to the two taxi drivers involved. The incident, first reported by the South Florida Times, occurred early Nov. 14, barely 12 hours after a Dolphins home victory over the Washington Redskins. One taxi driver alleged in...

Stanford Assistant McGlockton Dies at 42

STANFORD, Calif. — Chester McGlockton, a four-time Pro Bowl defensive lineman who emerged as a talented assistant coach and mentor at Stanford, died Wednesday. He was 42. McGlockton also spent time helping the San Francisco 49ers and former Cardinal coach Jim Harbaugh– his former racquetball partner– during training camp this summer as part of the Bill Walsh Minority Coaching Fellowship. Harbaugh expressed sadness and shock upon hearing of McGlockton’s death. Stanford said the school’s defensive assistant died overnight. “Chester’s...

It Felt Like a Win for Leafs

TORONTO — It has been a long time coming. Too long, really. A Wednesday night hockey game in Toronto with this kind of buzz and texture, with meaning and significance and more than that, life. When was the last time mid-week at the Air Canada Centre felt like this? This loud. This dramatic. This much like hockey that matters. For three years, Ron Wilson has complained about mid-week games at the ACC, about the dismal atmosphere, about the play that reflected that very atmosphere. And in turn, we complained along with him. But Wednesday night, it wasn’t just...
