Shane Carwin, Junior Dos Santos Both Looking for the KO at UFC 131

On Tuesday’s media call, UFC heavy­weights Shane Car­win and Junior dos San­tos made very clear what fans should expect to see when they meet in the Octa­gon on June 11, and it’s more or less what most peo­ple were already expecting. “Let’s face it, both dos San­tos and I got to where we’re at right now by knock­ing peo­ple out on our feet,” Car­win said. “I think we’re both explo­sive fight­ers and I think the fans are going to…have a real treat at UFC 131 when it gets to that main event, know­ing both guys have knock­out power in their hands.” Dos San­tos echoed...

Bernie: If there is peace we’ll go to Bahrain Bernie Eccle­stone is hope­ful that the World Motor­sport Coun­cil will on Fri­day decide that Bahrain GP should go ahead. The race, which was orig­i­nally sched­uled for Feb­ru­ary 21, was post­poned due to civil unrest in the Arab King­dom. Despite the uncer­tainty sur­round­ing the sit­u­a­tion in the region, Eccle­stone believes that if the safety of all those involved can be assured than the race should be resched­uled for later in the year. “If there’s peace there and they’re happy, we’re happy to com­pro­mise...

A cou­ple of for­tu­itous events found Quin­ton “Ram­page” Jack­son fight­ing for the right to chal­lenge UFC light heavy­weight Cham­pion Jonny “Bones” Jones. All he needed to do was defeat Matt Hamill in thrilling fash­ion to guar­an­tee the title shot that has eluded him since los­ing the strap to For­rest Grif­fin three years ago.  Ram­page took care of part of the job. He defeated Hamill and did it with rel­a­tive ease. Unfor­tu­nately, it wasn’t the most excit­ing...

Massa: Hamil­ton needs to learn a lesson Felipe Massa has called on the FIA to teach Lewis Hamil­ton a les­son, oth­er­wise he “will not learn.” The Brazil­ian was furi­ous with the McLaren dri­ver fol­low­ing their col­li­sion in Monte Carlo on Sun­day, which ulti­mately resulted in Massa retir­ing from the grand prix. Try­ing to take a posi­tion off Massa, Hamil­ton hit the Fer­rari dri­ver at Loews. He was then able to over­take through the tunnel. LAS VEGAS — A poor main event capped a desul­tory Ulti­mate Fight­ing Cham­pi­onship pay-per-view Sat­ur­day, as boos, and a few tossed beers, rained down upon the cage after Quin­ton “Ram­page” Jack­son scored a unan­i­mous deci­sion vic­tory over Matt Hamill in the main event of UFC 130 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. The card was not very cap­ti­vat­ing, but the main event made it seem even worse. Hamill said he would break Jackson’s will, but all that was bro­ken was the will of the spec­ta­tors to watch more.
