Vandals Edge Falcons in Humanitarian Bowl

The fans were amazed last night when Max Komar made a sliding 16-yard touchdown catch with just 4 seconds left. Nathan Enderle then passed to Preston Davis for the 2-point conversion, lifting the Vandals to victory in the Humanitarian Bowl in Boise, Idaho. The Falcons had taken a 42–35 lead with 32 seconds left on a 51-yard pass from Sheehan to Barnes. But Idaho answered with a 50-yard heave from Enderle to Davis that got the ball to the Bowling Green 16. After an incompletion with 8 seconds left, Enderle found Komar. The public consensus was fairly...

Arizona’s Shutout by Nebraska in Holiday Bowl

As Arizona’s coach Mike Stoops commented, “this game is humbling in many ways,” as he apologized to fans. Nebraska’s overwhelming 33–0 defeat of Arizona was the first shutout in the 32 year history of the Holiday Bowl. Zac Lee threw a 74-yard touchdown pass to Niles Paul in the third quarter which highlighted Nebraska’s dominance. The Huskers delivered on the defensive side of the ball and they earned their first shutout in 46 bowl appearances. The Wildcats didn’t stand a chance in this game. The public consensus was with the Huskers...

Betting Action for NFL Week 17

Heavy betting action is expected this weekend. Here is our take on the matchups this week: Eagles vs. Cowboys The winner takes the NFC East title and potentially a bye in the first-round of the playoffs while the loser gets a wild-card slot. Theagles have won six straight but the knee injury to Jamaal Jackson could mean alot more pressure on Donovan McNabb. Patriots vs. Texans Houston needs to win and have two of the Broncos, Jets and Ravens lose to make the playoffs. They face Patriots who have locked up a playoff spot and seems unlikely many of their starters...

Over 1.5 million viewers tuned in to the live televised announcement of Canada’s Olympic men’s hockey team yesterday.  Millions more in this hockey mad nation waited with eager anticipation for the Olympic team selections through word of mouth and other media sources. The Winter Olympics 2010 will be held in Vancouver next month. Among the 23 players named for the Olympic team were Sidney Crosby, Scott Niedermayer and Martin Brodeur. The squad will be trying to improve upon its disappointing finish four years ago in Italy. The men’s hockey...

Devils Shut Out Penguins: Strong Future Bet for Cup?

In NHL action, the New Jersey Devils shut out the Pittsburgh Penguins with another strong performance by Brodeur. Brodeur stoked the home team fans as he made 32 saves for his second straight shutout and NHL-record 105th overall, “It was like a playoff game,” Brodeur said. “Guys were going to the net, and there were a lot of good scoring chances on both sides. Bergfors and Langenbrunner scored for the Devils, who are 4–0 against the Penguins this season. New Jersey has won 14 of its past 17 games overall while the Penguins have dropped three in a row....

Chargers Easily Cover Spread Over Titans

Some are suggesting the San Diego Chargers are the best team in NFL this season.  LinesMaker Sportsbook members agreed with their wallets on Christmas Day when they gave them nearly two-thirds of the betting volume. They were rewarded as the Chargers dominated the Tennessee Titans in a 42 – 17 victory. They scored touchdowns in every quarter and rolled to a 25-point victory clinching a first round bye in the playoffs. They could be giving the Colts a run for their money for the Super Bowl 2010 title.  LinesMaker has betting odds of +400 for the...

Betting Backs Colts as They Break Record

Member betting at LinesMaker favored the Colts with 55% of the betting action on Indy to cover at –6.5 against the Broncos. Once again the Colts did not disappoint as they managed to continue their undefeated streak and cover the spread. Indianapolis now has their 22nd consecutive win after their 28 – 16 victory over Denver, this breaks the previous record of 21 set by the Patriots. Peyton Manning pleased the fans and showed his true MVP quality by throwing three touchdowns in the first 23 minutes of the game. The Colts are now the seventh...

Heavy Betting on Chargers Rewarded

With ten wins on the season, the San Diego Chargers are on the verge of a playoff berth after their eight straight win, 20 – 17 against the Dallas Cowboys. Philip Rivers who hit Antonio Gates for a go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter, took San Diego to their victory over Dallas. The Chargers have won their 16th straight in December, all with Rivers at the helm. Rivers was 21 of 32 for 272 yards with a touchdown (the 100th of his career) and an interception, his first in five games. Vincent Jackson caught seven passes for 120 yards, and Gates had 44 yards receiving...

Battle of the Forces – Navy Beats Army

Navy, who LinesMaker had as 14.5 point favorites, bagged their eighth straight win of the annual battle when they beat Army 17–3 on Saturday. Despite the victory, the favored Navy squad failed to cover the spread. The Black Knights have now been eliminated from a shot at playing in their first bowl game since 1996. Ricky Dobbs ran for a score to set an NCAA single-season record for rushing touchdowns by a quarterback with 24, and threw for a touchdown to help Navy improve to 54–49-7 overall against Army for its biggest lead in a series that began in 1890. The annual...

Saints March to Win but Fail to Cover

It wasn’t just the Colts who remained undefeated this Sunday, the New Orleans Saints managed to pull through undefeated as well. LinesMaker took 60% of the betting action on the heavily favored Saints at –10, who did not covered with their 26 – 23 victory over the Atlanta Flacons. Their play remained perfect — Drew Brees was 31 for 40 and threw for 296 yards and three touchdowns, Jonathan Vilma came up with two huge defensive plays. The unfortunate Falcons have now lost six out of their last eight games. The fact the Falcons were without their two biggest...
