Tyson Takes on Pigeons

Who would have thought for­mer world heavy­weight cham­pion Mike Tyson would go from the box­ing ring to ring­ing pigeons?

Ani­mal Planet announced this week that Tyson will be star­ing in a new real­ity show in which he will rear, train and race pigeons. Tyson will be coached by a group of pigeon experts in New York City until he is ready to race his birds against some seri­ous com­peti­tors. The show will be aired early next year.

Tyson is no stranger to this “intensely com­pet­i­tive and bizarrely fas­ci­nat­ing world” accord­ing to Ani­mal Planet. He has a great love for these birds, has raised them for most of his adult life and he own sev­eral lofts hous­ing hun­dreds of pigeons in Brook­lyn and New Jersey.

Maybe some day we’ll see some odds for pigeon rac­ing on Lines­Maker. It’s a big busi­ness and enthu­si­asts will enter into heavy wager­ing on races that can range up to 500 miles.
